From SquareSpace to WordPress: A Website Migration That Grows With You

We recently had the pleasure of working with a fantastic client in the NDIS space to help them take a big digital leap forward by migrating their entire website from Squarespace over to WordPress.

Now, don’t get us wrong. Platforms like Squarespace and Wix are great options for not-for-profits, especially when budgets are tight. They’re easy to set up, the security and updates are all handled in the background, and for many smaller organisations, they do the job just fine.

But as this particular organisation grew, so did their website needs.

They wanted more flexibility with design, the ability to scale, and full control over how their content was presented. WordPress offered the perfect solution with thousands of themes, a huge range of plugins, and almost endless options to customise (it’s no secret we’re big fans!).

The Migration Process

Website migration is one of those behind-the-scenes projects that sounds simple but requires a whole lot of careful planning and testing.

We used a tool to help bulk move the site’s existing content including pages, blog articles, newsletters and more over to WordPress. But automated tools can only go so far. Our team of specialists rolled up their sleeves and went through every single page to make sure everything displayed properly, looked great, and worked exactly as it should.

That meant reformatting where needed, testing links and forms, and making sure all the important content came across smoothly with no broken bits or weird formatting surprises.

Empowering Their Team

One of the client’s main goals was to stay in control of their content, with the ability to make updates themselves without needing a developer every time.

Once the new site was live, we spent time with their team delivering tailored training on their new WordPress website. We showed them how to edit and add content, create new pages and blog posts, update imagery, and more. Our goal is always to leave clients feeling confident and empowered to manage their own site. This empowers them to share their crucial message more efficiently and connect with their community directly, accelerating their mission.

To back that up, we’ve also got them set up with our ongoing WordPress helpdesk support and training so if they ever need a hand, we’re right there with them.

In Summary

Migrating from Squarespace to WordPress isn’t just about switching platforms. It’s about setting up a digital home that can grow and evolve with your organisation.

If you’re a not-for-profit looking to take that next step, we’d love to chat about how we can support you too. Whether it’s migration, custom design, or just making sure your site works for you, not against you.
