Designing digital fundraising assets for organisations addressing family violence requires a delicate balance. It demands absolute sensitivity to the subject matter, a deep respect for the lived experiences of those affected, and a highly strategic approach to donor security and optimisation. When the message carries this much gravity, clarity and trust are everything.

Recently, our team at PN Digital had the honour of collaborating with Safe Steps to support the digital rollout of their EOFY Tax Appeal.

Safe Steps works tirelessly on the frontline, providing critical crisis support and advocating for safety and a better life for those affected by family violence. Our goal wasn’t to build a campaign from scratch; instead, we acted as a trusted digital extension of their team, focusing our technical, design, and ad management expertise on amplifying their vision.

Optimising the Digital Journey for Trust and Security

When a donor lands on an appeal page for an organisation like Safe Steps, the user experience needs to feel supportive, seamless, and entirely secure.

Our primary focus was creating and optimising the campaign landing page. We audited the user paths to remove any technical friction, ensuring that the journey from an ad or email to the final donation confirmation was clear and intuitive. By tightening the digital infrastructure, we ensured that the community could show their support easily, keeping the focus entirely on the vital cause.

Alongside the landing page development, our team supported Safe Steps by developing clean, impactful design and visual elements that aligned perfectly with their brand voice. We also collaborated on refining their eDM (email marketing) streams, ensuring that their direct communications carried a cohesive message across every touchpoint.

Leveraging Prior Learnings for Meta Ads Management

A sensitive campaign requires a highly nuanced approach to paid targeting. You cannot rely on generic audience brackets or aggressive marketing tactics.

We managed the Meta Ads component of the appeal by diving into historical data. By looking at prior campaign learnings, our team gained a deep understanding of Safe Steps’ established audience segments. We used these insights to build out the current campaign infrastructure, ensuring the ad architecture was optimised to reach high-intent, empathetic donors while respecting the strict ethical boundaries required for this space.

By continuously monitoring performance throughout the EOFY period, we maintained a highly stable, efficient ad account that gave the appeal maximum digital visibility without compromising on the dignity of the messaging.

Collaboration with Real-World Impact

Working alongside the fundraising and communications team at Safe Steps is a profound reminder of why we do what we do. Our role was simply to ensure that their digital infrastructure and ad performance matched the exceptional strength of their advocacy.

We are incredibly proud of the collaborative effort that went into this rollout, helping ensure Safe Steps has the vital funding required to continue their life-saving work. There’s still time to donate to their EOFY campaign.
